MOSES – 13 STEPS (2024)
„MOSES – 13 STEPS“ tells the inspiring life story of one of the most extraordinary athletes in sports history, Edwin Moses.
From his childhood during the era of segregation in America and his formative years at Morehouse College in Atlanta, to his astonishing victory at the 1976 Olympic Games and his electrifying gold medal win in 1984, the film chronicles Moses’ journey. It portrays him as an athlete, scientist, engineer, and humanist – a pioneer, visionary leader, and advocate for equality, fairness, and integrity in sports.
Edwin Moses discovered his discipline almost by chance and taught himself the most demanding track and field event: the 400-meter hurdles. This led to a historic winning streak: 9 years, 9 months, and 9 days undefeated.
Even during his career, the Olympic champion fought for stricter doping controls, fair pay for athletes, and equality in sports.
Featuring exclusive interviews with Edwin Moses himself, as well as cultural icons like Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, and Neil deGrasse Tyson, alongside sports legends such as Karsten Warholm, Tommie Smith, and Michael Johnson, the film provides deeply personal insights into the thoughts, motivations, and challenges of this extraordinary athlete.
As the Archive Producer for this project, I had the unique opportunity to contribute to bringing this remarkable story to life. It all began for me with a visit to Edwin Moses‘ home in Atlanta in 2022, marking the start of a fascinating journey. Working on this inspiring project was both a privilege and a memorable experience.
